2022 NBA Draft Team Needs

With the 2021 NBA Draft in the rearview mirror, all eyes now turn to the 2022 Draft Class And while it’s still early in the process, there are already some clear storylines emerging.

The biggest story is the race for the No. 1 overall pick. The Houston Rockets currently hold the rights to the pick, but they are far from a lock to keep it. The Rockets are currently in rebuild mode and are expected to be one of the worst teams in the league next season. If they do end up with the No. 1 pick, it will be their second straight year with the top selection (they drafted 2020 No. 1 pick RJ Barrett last year).

Other teams that could be in the mix for the No. 1 pick include the Detroit Pistons Cleveland Cavaliers and Orlando Magic All three teams are expected to be bad next season and could end up in a battle for ping-pong balls come 2022.

As for which players could be available at the top of the draft, there is a clear consensus No. 1 right now: Oklahoma State guard Cade Cunningham Cunningham is a 6-foot-7 guard who can play both ends of the floor and is widely considered to be a future NBA Star He’s expected to be one of the most impactful players in college basketball next season and should solidify himself as the No. 1 pick with a strong year.

Other players who could hear their names called early on draft night include Duke forward Jalen Johnson USC guard Evan Mobley Michigan State forward Emoni Bates and Arkansas guard Moses Moody. All five players are considered to be among the best prospects in college basketball and have a chance to be Top 10 picks next June.
