Anderson’s NBA career got off to a rocky start as he averaged just 10 points and four assists per game as a rookie, but he improved his numbers in his second season to 15 points and eight assists per game He would go on to play for eight different teams during his NBA career including two stints with the Nets. His best season came in 1997–98 when he averaged 16 points, nine assists, and three rebounds per game for the Charlotte Hornets Anderson retired from the NBA in 2006 after playing sparingly for several teams during his final few seasons.

Since retiring from basketball, Anderson has worked as a commentator on various basketball programs and as a coach at his alma mater, Archbishop Molloy high school

Anderson’s career came to an end after a series of injuries limited him to just 36 games over his last two seasons. He last played in 2005 but made a brief comeback attempt with the Brooklyn Nets in 2008 before finally retiring for good.
