The race for MVP this season is as tight as it has ever been. There are a Number of players who have strong cases and could take home the hardware come playoff time. Here is a look at the top contenders and who has the edge in this year’s MVP Race
Russell Westbrook, Oklahoma City Thunder
Westbrook is having an incredible season and is averaging a triple-double. He is currently leading the league in scoring and is second in assists. James Harden, Houston Rockets

Kawhi Leonard, San Antonio Spurs
Leonard has emerged as one of the best two-way players in the league and is currently averaging over 25 points per game He is also one of the best defenders in the league and plays a huge role in anchoring the Spurs’ defense. The 2017 NBA MVP Why [Player X] Deserves the Title
It’s that time of year again. The end of the regular season is upon us, and that can only mean one thing: it’s time to start discussing who will take home the hardware at the end of the year. In the NBA, that means it’s time to start debating who deserves to be named MVP.
There are a few players who always seem to be in the conversation when it comes to MVP, such as Lebron James and Kevin Durant But this year, there seems to be a clear frontrunner: Russell Westbrook
Westbrook has had an absolutely incredible season. He’s averaging a triple-double, something that hasn’t been done since Oscar Robertson did it back in 1961-62. He’s also carrying the Oklahoma City Thunder on his back, as they’ve been without their other star player Kevin Durant all season long
For these reasons and more, Westbrook is our pick for MVP of the 2017 NBA season
The 2017 NBA MVP Why [Player Y] Deserves the Title
The 2017 NBA MVP is one of the most talked about and difficult to predict races in recent memory. Just looking at the sheer number of players who have had a legitimate case for the award at some point this season, it’s hard to deny that it’s been one of the most competitive seasons we’ve seen in a long time. But, despite all of the competition, there is one player who stands out above the rest as the deserving MVP: [Player Y].
Here are a few reasons why [Player Y] should take home the title this year:

-Brief explanation of why player Y should be MVP
-Brief explanation of why player Y should be MVP
In a season that has been so competitive, it’s hard to choose just one player as the Most Valuable Player But, when you take a closer look at all that [Player Y] has achieved this season, it’s clear that they are deserving of the title.
The 2017 NBA MVP Why [Player Z] Deserves the Title
The National Basketball Association (NBA) Most Valuable Player (MVP) is an annual National Basketball Association (NBA) award given since the 1955–56 season to the best performing player of the Regular Season The winner receives the Maurice Podoloff Trophy, which is named in honor of the first commissioner (then president) of the NBA, who served from 1946 until 1963. Until 2011, the MVP was selected by a vote of NBA players Since 2012, a media panel has voted after the conclusion of the regular season
The most recent recipient of the award is Russell Westbrook who won it in 2016–17. Westbrook became only the second player in NBA history to average a triple-double for a season, joining Oscar Robertson in 1961–62. Robertson had won the award in 1963. Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain have been named MVP four times each; Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has won six times, while Michael Jordan and Lebron James have each won five MVP Awards Russell Westbrook and James Harden are tied for second-most wins with three apiece.
In contrast to many other major sports leagues which hold their all-star games midway through their respective seasons, the NBA elects to hold its all-star festivities during February – when more than half of its 82 game schedule has already been played – so as not to interfere with any playoff implications that might still be relevant at that stage in the season. This is also when most players are considered to have put up their best numbers and – provided they have stayed healthy over the first couple of months – be in genuine contention for one of basketball’s most coveted individual prizes: being named that year’s Most Valuable Player
The Case Against [Player X] Winning the 2017 NBA MVP
The 2017 NBA MVP race is heating up, and there are a lot of great candidates. But there are also a few players who, despite their impressive stats and accomplishments, just don’t have what it takes to win the award. Here’s the case against [Player X] winning the 2017 nba mvp
The Case Against [Player Y] Winning the 2017 NBA MVP
It’s that time of year again. The time when basketball fans around the world begin speculating who will take home the NBA’s Most Valuable Player award And, as always, there are a few players who seem to be head-and-shoulders above the rest. But that doesn’t mean that there isn’t room for debate. Here, we make the case against one popular candidate: [Player Y].
Player Y is undeniably a great player. They’ve put up great numbers this season and have been a key part of their team’s success. But is that enough to warrant MVP honors? We think not. Here are three reasons why [Player Y] is not deserving of the 2017 MVP Award
1) Their team is not one of the best in the league.
2) They have not been as consistent as other candidates.
3) They have benefited from playing with other Great players
1) Their team is not one of the best in the league:
This is perhaps the most important factor in determining MVP eligibility. The award should go to the player who has had the biggest impact on their team’s success. And while [Player Y]’s team has had a good season, they haven’t been one of the best teams in the league. In fact, they’re currently ranked [insert current ranking here]. So it’s hard to argue that [Player Y] has been the most Valuable Player in the league when their team isn’t even one of the best.
2) They have not been as consistent as other candidates:
Another thing to consider is consistency. MVP voters typically reward players who put up great numbers week in and week out, rather than those who have had a few big games mixed in with some below-average performances. And when you look at [Player Y]’s numbers, it’s clear that they haven’t been as consistent as other candidates. For example, they’ve averaged [insert stats here], which is good, but not as good as some of their competitors. This lack of consistency could be what ultimately costs them MVP honors this season.
The Case Against [Player Z] Winning the 2017 NBA MVP
Player Z has been putting up great numbers this season, but there are a few factors working against him in the MVP race. First and foremost, his team is not one of the top teams in the league. In fact, they are currently fighting for a playoff spot. It is hard to win the MVP when your team is not one of the best in the league.
Second, Player Z is not the best player on his own team. He is a great player, but there are other players on his team that are also having great seasons. This splits the vote and makes it harder for him to win the MVP.
Finally, Player Z has missed a few games due to injury this season. This is always a factor when voting for MVP as voters tend to favor players who have played in all 82 games.
Player Z is having a great season, but these factors make it unlikely that he will win the 2017 NBA MVP award
Who Will Really Win the 2017 NBA MVP?
The 2017 NBA MVP will be a highly contested race, with a handful of players having strong cases for the award.
Russell Westbrook who averaged a triple double for the season, is a popular choice for the MVP. Other strong contenders include James Harden Kawhi Leonard and Lebron James
It will be interesting to see who takes home the MVP award this year, as all of the candidates have had impressive seasons.
