The NBA’s best teams
In the National Basketball Association there are 30 teams split up into two conferences – the Eastern Conference and the Western Conference
The Western Conference is widely considered to be the superior conference, as it has been home to the NBA Finals champion in 21 of the last 30 seasons. Of the 15 teams in the Western Conference 14 hail from markets that are among the 25 largest metropolitan areas in the United States
The Eastern Conference has only six teams in the top 25 markets – Boston (#7), New York (#1), Philadelphia (#4), Washington D.C. (#8), Miami (#16), and Atlanta (#21).

The NBA’s least valuable teams
In recent years the NBA has seen a dramatic increase in the value of its franchises. The average NBA team is now worth $1.65 billion, up 13% from last year and nearly three times the value of just five years ago. The increase in team values is due to a number of factors, including soaring television revenue, new arenas and stadium developments, and the league’s growing popularity both domestically and internationally.
Not all teams have benefited equally from this growth, however. While the league’s most valuable teams are now worth an average of $2.6 billion, the least valuable teams are worth just $730 million on average. These figures are based on a new study by Forbes magazine, which ranks all 30 NBA teams by their estimated market value.
The New York Knicks are the most valuable team in the NBA, with an estimated value of $3 billion. The Los Angeles Lakers ($2.7 billion) and Golden State Warriors ($2.6 billion) round out the top three. Of the league’s 10 most valuable teams, seven are located in either New York or Los Angeles
At the other end of the spectrum are the Milwaukee Bucks ($730 million), Charlotte Hornets ($780 million), and Memphis Grizzlies ($790 million). These three teams rank as the NBA’s least valuable franchises according to Forbes’ estimate.
The NBA’s smallest markets
It is no secret that the NBA has a bit of a problem when it comes to market size. Of the 30 teams in the league, 15 play in the smallest markets in North America This list includes some of the NBA’s most storied franchises, like the Boston Celtics who play in the smallest market in the league.
The 15 smallest markets in the NBA are:
Boston Celtics
New York Knicks
Los Angeles Lakers
Chicago Bulls
Philadelphia 76ers
Houston Rockets
Dallas Mavericks
Miami Heat
Phoenix Suns
Orlando Magic
Portland Trail Blazers
Oklahoma City Thunder
Milwaukee Bucks
Utah Jazz
These teams make up for their small market sizes with large fan bases and loyal support.
The NBA’s worst teams
The NBA’s worst teams are often located in the smallest markets. This is because smaller markets cannot generate the same level of revenue as larger markets. As a result, these teams often have to rely on cheaper players who are less talented. This can lead to a vicious cycle in which the team becomes worse, and fans have less incentive to support it.
The following is a list of the NBA’s worst teams, based on their record over the last five years.
-Minnesota Timberwolves
-New Orleans Pelicans
-Memphis Grizzlies
-Sacramento Kings
The NBA’s most improved teams
The NBA’s most improved teams are the Miami Heat the Indiana Pacers and the Oklahoma City Thunder
The NBA’s biggest disappointments
There are a lot of factors that go into whether or not an NBA team is successful. A big part of it is the market size of the team’s city. The bigger the market, the more revenue the team can generate, and the more likely they are to be able to afford to sign good players.
Unfortunately, not all teams in big markets are successful. In fact, some of the biggest markets in the country have teams that are consistently among the worst in the league. Here are some of the most disappointing teams in the NBA, based on their market size.
The NBA’s most surprising teams
It’s no surprise that the Los Angeles Lakers and the New York Knicks are among the NBA’s most valuable teams. But what about some of the league’s smaller markets?
Despite being located in smaller cities, several NBA teams have managed to achieve surprising levels of success. Here are some of the most surprising teams in the NBA, based on market size:
– Oklahoma City Thunder The Thunder has one of the smallest markets in the NBA, but they’ve been one of the most successful teams in recent years Led by stars such as Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant the Thunder has made it to the playoffs eight times in the last 10 years, including a trip to the Finals in 2012.
– Portland Trail Blazers The Trail Blazers have also been one of the league’s most successful small-market teams They’ve made it to the playoffs 28 times in their history, including a trip to the Finals in 1990.
– Utah Jazz The Jazz has a long history of success, despite being located in a small market. They’ve made it to the playoffs 35 times in their history and they have two NBA Finals appearances (1997 and 1998).
The NBA’s most overrated teams
The list of the NBA’s most overrated teams is led by the Los Angeles Lakers who are followed by the Chicago Bulls Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors These are the league’s four most popular teams, and each has won multiple championships in recent years The Lakers are especially despised by fans of other teams, as they are often seen as arrogant and entitled.
