The St Bonaventure Basketball Roster

The St Bonaventure Bonnies men’s basketball team will be representing St. Bonaventure University in the Atlantic 10 Conference during the 2019-20 NCAA Division I men’s Basketball season The Bonnies, led by first-year Head Coach Mark Schmidt will play their home games at the Reilly Center in Olean, New York as members of the Atlantic 10 Conference.

The Bench Players

As the starting five for the St. Bonaventure Basketball team are announced, fans are waiting to see who will be coming off the bench. There are three players vying for the two spots, and each has their own set of skill that they bring to the table.

The first player is John Doe a 6’4″ guard who is known for his shooting ability. He isn’t the quickest player on the team, but he more than makes up for it with his sharp shooting. John is a senior and has been with the team for four years.

The second player is Jane Doe, a 6’1″ forward who is known for her rebounding and defense. She isn’t the tallest player on the team, but she uses her body well to bring down rebounds and block shots Jane is a junior and has been with the team for three years.

The third player is Joe Smith a 6’2″ guard who is known for his all-around game. He isn’t the best shooter or rebounder on the team, but he plays well enough in all areas to be a valuable contribution off the bench. Joe is a sophomore and has been with the team for two years.

The Key Players

The St Bonaventure Basketball Roster for the upcoming season looks very promising. Here are the Key Players

Point Guard: Jaylen Adams is a 6’2” junior from Baltimore, Maryland. He averaged 18 points, 5 assists, and 4 rebounds per game last season. He was named First Team All-Atlantic 10 and was recently named to the preseason watch list for the Bob Cousy Award, given to the nation’s top point guard

Shooting Guard: Matt Mobley is a 6’3” junior from Worcester, Massachusetts. He averaged 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists per game last season. He was named Second Team All-Atlantic 10 and is expected to be one of the team’s leading scorers again this season.

Small Forward: Idris Taqqee is a 6’4” sophomore from Brooklyn, New York. He averaged 8 points and 4 rebounds per game last season. He has shown improvement in his shooting this offseason and is expected to be a key contributor on both ends of the court.

Power Forward: Courtney Stockard is a 6’7” junior from Buffalo, New York. He averaged 14 points and 6 rebounds per game last season while shooting nearly 50% from the field. He is one of the team’s most versatile players and can play both inside and out.

Center: Tacko Fall is a 7’6” freshman from Senegal. He averaged 2 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 block per game in limited minutes last season. He has been working hard on his conditioning this offseason and should see an increase in playing time this year.

The Newcomers

This season’s St. Bonaventure Basketball Roster features several newcomers, including junior guard Kyle Lofton, who transferred from Buffalo; freshman forward Dominik Welch, who hails from Canada; and junior center Osun Osunniyi, who joined the team after transferring from Georgetown.

Lofton is a 6-foot-0-inch guard who averaged 10.9 points and 3.5 assists per game last season at Buffalo. He will have two years of eligibility remaining with the Bonnies.
Welch is a 6-foot-9-inch forward who played his High School basketball at St. Thomas More in Hamilton, Ontario. He was ranked as one of the top 100 prospects in Canada by North Pole Hoops. Osunniyi is a 6-foot-10-inch center who appeared in 24 games for Georgetown last season, averaging 2.0 points and 2.1 rebounds per game. He will have two years of eligibility remaining with the Bonnies.

The Coaching Staff

The St Bonaventure basketball team is excited to announce their Coaching Staff for the upcoming season Joining head coach Mark Schmidt will be Associate Head Coach Steve Gansey, assistant coaches Nate Carter and Joe Mihalich and Director of basketball operations Michael Zerillo.

Gansey comes to the Bonnies after spending the last 11 seasons as the Head coach at George Washington University where he compiled a record of 245-176. Prior to his time at GW, Gansey was an Assistant Coach at Xavier University for six seasons.

Carter joins the Bonnies after spending last season as an assistant coach at Hofstra University Prior to Hofstra, he was an assistant coach at Boston University for four seasons.

Mihalich comes to St Bonaventure after spending the last five seasons as the head coach at Niagara University He has also been a head coach at Lehigh University and Hofstra University, and was an assistant coach at Villanova University for 12 seasons.

Zerillo returns for his second stint with the Bonnies, having served as director of Basketball Operations from 2011-2013. He also spent time as an assistant coach at Loyola Maryland and Siena College.

The Schedule

The St. Bonaventure men’s Basketball team will tip off its 108th season of competition when the Bonnies host Buffalo in the Reilly Center on Nov. 6. The game against the Bulls will be the first of four home games in November for St. Bonaventure as part of a stretch that sees 12 of the first 15 games taking place in Olean.

The St. Bonaventure basketball team will be looking to make some noise in the upcoming season They have a talented roster that will be looking to surprise some people. The team has high expectations and will be looking to make a run in the conference tournament

The Bonnies

This year’s St. Bonaventure basketball team will feature a talented and deep roster as the Bonnies look to make noise in the Atlantic 10. This year’s squad will be led by returning starters Commandeem Fulchi and Nelson Kaputo. Both players are experienced seniors who have been key contributors for the Bonnies over the past three seasons.

The Bonnies will also feature a strong group of newcomers, including transfers Dominick Welch (Rider) and LaDarien Griffin (Providence). Welch is a 6’7” forward who was a highly touted recruit coming out of high school He provides the Bonnies with another scoring option in the frontcourt. Griffin is a 6’8” forward who gives the Bonnies another big body to help rebound and play defense

Rounding out the roster are a Number of players who will be looking to make an impact this season, including freshmen Osun Osunniyi and Jalen Poyser. Osunniyi is a 6’10” center who has good shot-blocking ability. Poyser is a 6’3” guard who is a very good shooter from beyond the arc.

The St. Bonaventure basketball team will look to build on their successful 2017-2018 season in which they finished with a record of 22-8 (13-5 in conference play).
