Carmelo Anthony

Carmelo Kyam Anthony (born May 29, 1984) is an American professional basketball player for the Houston Rockets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He has been named an All-Star eleven times and an All-NBA team member six times. He won an NBA Championship with the Miami Heat in 2012.

While playing for Melo Trimble’s travel basketball team Anthony was discovered by one of Baltimore’s premier youth basketball coaches, Marty Conlon. When Conlon began coaching at Towson Catholic High School (now defunct), he invited Anthony to play for his team. In his junior year of high school Anthony led Towson Catholic to a 26–1 record and the Baltimore Catholic League championship, averaging 20 points per game The following year, Anthony was named by The Washington Post as Maryland’s “Co-Player of the Year”, alongside Edgar Richardson Jr., after averaging 22 points per game During his senior year at Towson Catholic high school Anthony averaged 27 points per game and was named Baltimore Catholic League Player of the Year and Baltimore Sun Metropolitan Player of the Year. He was named to The Washington Post All-Metropolitan first team that same year.

In July 2002, Anthony played for the United States men’s national Basketball team (known as “Team USA”) at the 2002 FIBA World Championship in Indianapolis. Team USA won eight games and lost five to finish in sixth place in the tournament; thus failing to qualify for either the medal round or a spot in the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece scheduled for later that year. In nine games played during the tournament, Anthony averaged 11 points per game and led Team USA in steals with 2.3 per game.

In September 2003, following a sterling junior campaign at Syracuse which saw him average 22.2 points and 10 rebounds per game (both tops on his team), leading Syracuse to their first ever NCAA appearance in Carmelo’s freshman season and being named Big East co-Player of the Year (alongside Connecticut’s Emeka Okafor) as a sophomore; Carmelo declared himself eligible for entry into the 2003 NBA draft where he would eventually be selected 3rd overall by Denver Nuggets

Chris Paul was born on August 6, 1985, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina He is a point guard for the Houston Rockets of the NBA. Paul was drafted fourth overall in the 2005 NBA Draft by the New Orleans Hornets. He has been selected to nine All-Star teams, eight All-NBA Teams and nine NBA All-Defensive teams.
