The Southeast Missouri State University men’s Basketball team is made up of student-athletes from all over the country. They are all unique in their own way, but they all share one common goal: to win a conference championship

This year’s basketball team at Southeast Missouri State University is made up of some very talented young men. Get to know them better with this quick guide to the team.

Tyler Stone is a senior forward from Hannibal, Missouri. He is the team’s leading scorer and rebounder, averaging 17 points and 9 rebounds per game

Moses Kingsley is a sophomore center from Arkansas. He has been a key player for the team, averaging 13 points and 8 rebounds per game

Antonio Wimbush is a freshman guard from Chicago, Illinois. He is one of the team’s top scorers averaging 12 points per game

Dawan Robinson is a freshman guard from Memphis, Tennessee. He has been a key player for the team, averaging 11 points and 5 assists per game

Semo Basketball: Roster Changes for the Upcoming Season

This off-season has seen a lot of changes for the SEMO Basketball team The most notable changes are:

-The departure of leading scorer Tyler Streeter, who is transferring to a school closer to his hometown.
-The addition of two new players: shooting guard Malik Hines and small forward Shaq Lawson.
-The return of point guard Trayvon Ragland, who missed last season with a Knee Injury

With these changes, the team will have a different look heading into the new season. Let’s take a closer look at the roster:

Malik Hines – A 6’4″ shooting guard from Chicago, Hines is a talented scorer who can also hold his own on defense. He’s expected to step into the starting role vacated by Tyler Streeter.

Trayvon Ragland – A 6’3″ point guard Ragland is a veteran leader who will provide stability and experience at the position. He missed all of last season with a torn ACL, but he’s healthy now and ready to get back on the court.

Shaq Lawson – A 6’6″ small forward from Memphis, Lawson is a versatile player who can score, rebound, and defend. He’ll add depth to the SEMO frontcourt.

From freshmen to seniors, each member of the team brings something special to the court. Get to know a little bit about each player on the 2018-2019 Semo Basketball Roster

#1- Guard- Terrence Payne
A native of Chicago, Illinois, Terrence Payne is a junior guard on the team. He played in all 33 games last season and was one of only four players to start every game. He averaged 9.5 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game An excellent three-point shooter, Payne shot 39.4 percent from beyond the arc last season. He is one of the team’s leaders and will be looked to for scoring and playmaking this season.

#2- Guard- Darrian Ringo
A sophomore guard from Detroit, Michigan, Darrian Ringo is a talented young player with a bright future ahead of him. He saw action in 32 games last season as a freshman, averaging 4.9 points and 1.8 assists per game Ringo is an excellent shooter with a knack for getting to the basket and finishing tough shots. He will be counted on to provide scoring and playmaking off the bench this season.

#3- Forward- Isaiah Gable
A 6’7″ forward from Sikeston, Missouri, Isaiah Gable is a junior who played in 27 games last season. He averaged 2.6 points and 2 rebounds per game as a reserve player last season but will be looked to for more production this year as he steps into a starting role. Gable is a versatile player who can score inside and out and is also a good rebounder . He will be an important part of the team’s success this season .

#4- Guard/Forward- Raynere Thornton
A 6’5″ guard/forward from St Louis, Missouri, Raynere Thornton is a senior who has been with the team for four years . He has played in 111 career games, averaging 7 points and 4 rebounds per game . Thornton is a strong defender who can also score when called upon . He will be an important leader for the team this season , both on and off the court .

New Faces on the Semo Basketball Team

This year’s Semo basketball team is looking fresh with some new recruits. Here’s what you need to know about the new faces on the team:

– Skylar Mays is a 6’4” shooting guard from Baton Rouge Louisiana. He was a McDonald’s All-American and played his college ball at LSU.

– Isaiah Stokes is a 6’8” Power Forward from Memphis, Tennessee. He played his college ball at Florida State

– Daulton Hommes is a 6’7” small forward from Sioux Center, Iowa. He played his college ball at Drake University.

– Kobe Valentine is a 6’1” point guard from Chicago, Illinois. He played his college ball at Bradley University

Semo Basketball: Returning Players to Watch

This season, the Southeast Missouri State University men’s basketball team will have several players returning to the court. Among them are a few who are sure to make an impact this season. Here’s a look at some of the players to watch.

Tyler Stone (Senior, Forward): Stone is SEMO’s leading returning scorer and rebounder. In his junior season, he averaged 14 points and seven rebounds per game. He was named to the All-Ohio Valley Conference first team and was an honorable mention All-American by the Associated Press.

Niko Medved (Senior, Guard): Medved was second on the team in scoring last season, averaging 13 points per game He’s also a good three-point shooter, having made 42 percent of his attempts from beyond the arc last season. Medved was named to the All-OVC second team last season.

Marland Smith (Junior, Guard): Smith is another good scorer and shooter who averaged 11 points per game last season while shooting 39 percent from three-point range He was named to the OVC All-Newcomer team last season.

Dequan Hicks (Sophomore, Forward): Hicks is a versatile player who can score inside and out. Last season he averaged nine points and five rebounds per game while shooting 42 percent from three-point range.

Semo Basketball: Key Departures from Last Year’s Team

The Southeast Missouri State men’s basketball team will look a little different this season, with several key departures from last year’s squad.

Gone are leading scorer Antonius Cleveland, who graduated, as well as leading rebounder Nino Johnson, who also graduated. Additionally, transfer guard Shawn Roundtree has left the team.

The Redhawks will have to replace those three players’ production, but they do return four starters from last season in Marcus microscopic, Isaiah Gable, Skyler Hogan and Denzel Thomson. Additionally, they return key reserves in Davell Roby and Alex Caldwell.

The team will look to build on last year’s success, when they went 22-11 and won the Ohio Valley Conference regular season championship. They’ll have their work cut out for them without their three leading scorers from last season, but with a core of experienced returnees, they should be in contention for another OVC title.

Semo Basketball: Team Captains for the Upcoming Season

This year’s SEMO Basketball team is already looking promising, with a strong group of returning players and some talented newcomers. The team will be led by seniors Jakeenan Gant and Jordan Barham, who have been named co-captains for the upcoming season

Gant, a 6’8” forward from Missouri City, TX, is entering his fourth year with the Redhawks. He was named First Team All-Conference last year after averaging 15 points and 7 rebounds per game. Gant is SEMO’s all-time leader in blocked shots, and he is expected to be a key player on both ends of the court this season.

Barham, a 6’5” guard from Memphis, TN, is also entering his fourth year with the team. He averaged 10 points per game last season and was named to the Second Team All-Conference. Barham is known for his Three-point shooting ability, and he will be looked to provide a spark on offense this year.

The Redhawks are scheduled to open their season on November 10th at home against Mississippi Valley State

Semo Basketball: Schedule for the Upcoming Season

The Southeast Missouri State University men’s Basketball Team will compete in the Ohio Valley Conference for the 2019-20 season The schedule has not been released yet, but theRedhawks will play their first game on November 5th against an opponent to be determined.

SEMO will play a total of 30 games this season, with 15 conference games and 15 non-conference games. The Conference Schedule has not been released yet, but it is expected to be released in early October. The Redhawks will play their first conference game on December 28th against Murray State

SEMO’s non-conference schedule includes games against teams from the Missouri Valley Conference the Ohio Valley Conference, and the Southland Conference The Redhawks will also play two exhibitions games against Division II opponents.

Get Excited for Semo Basketball: Reasons to Watch This Season

The 2017-2018 Southeast Missouri State men’s Basketball team is set to kick off their season on Friday, November 10th at home in the Show Me Center against UT Martin. If you’re not already excited for some Hawk Basketball here are seven reasons why you should be.

1. New Head Coach Rick Ray will be debuting his first season with the team. He comes to SEMO after three years as head coach at Mississippi State where his overall record was 40-81. Although his time at MSU wasn’t successful in terms of wins and losses, Ray is a well-respected coach in the industry and was even named one of the top 35 assistant coaches in the country by CBS Sports in 2008. Ray has brought a new level of excitement to the program and has made some significant changes, including hiring experienced Assistant coaches and increasing the team’s focus on academics.

2. The team has five new players that fans can look forward to seeing on the court this season. Freshmen guards James Howell (Early, Texas) and Isaiah Gable (Cahokia, Ill.), along with redshirt freshman guard Tyrek Coger (St. Louis, Mo.), junior college transfer guard/forward Kendal Brown-Surles (Dayton, Ohio) and freshman forward Alex Caldwell (Jonesboro, Ga.) will all be donning Redhawk jerseys for the first time this year. With a mix of experience and fresh talent, this year’s team is sure to be entertaining.

3 . Redshirt senior Antonius Cleveland is back for his final season with the team after sitting out last year due to transfer rules. The 6’6″ guard/forward from Memphis, Tenn., was SEMO’s leading scorer during the 2015-2016 season with an average of 16 Points per game His return is sure to add some much-needed scoring punch to the lineup.

4 . senior Shawn Roundtree Jr., who averaged 13 points per game last season, will also be back to help lead the team this year. The 6’0″ guard from Chicago, Ill., has developed into a strong leader during his time at SEMO and will no doubt be a key contributor on both ends of the court.

5 . One player to keep an eye on this season is sophomore point guard Denzel Mahoney (6’3″/Chicago, Ill.). Mahoney had a strong freshman campaign, averaging 11 points per game while starting all 32 games for the Redhawks. He proved himself to be a capable scorer and distributor last year and should only continue to get better as he gains more experience.

6 . The schedule features some tough competition that will provide plenty of opportunities for fans to see how SEMO measures up against some of the best teams in the country . Some noteworthy games include match-ups against defending National Champion North Carolina (Nov. 17), SEC power Arkansas (Dec 12), 2015 Final Four participant Michigan State (Dec 21) , and Big East foe Butler (Jan 27). These games will definitely test SEMO early on in the season but will also provide some great exposure for the program..
