Eastern Conference
The Eastern Conference of the 199293 NBA season was made up of 15 teams, including the expansion Orlando Magic The regular season began on November 6, 1992, and ended on April 17, 1993. The 1993 NBA playoffs began on April 20, and ended with the Eastern Conference Finals on June 2.
The Chicago Bulls went into the season as defending champions, having defeated the Portland Trail Blazers in the 1992 NBA Finals After losing to the New York Knicks in the previous year’s Eastern Conference Semifinals, Patrick Ewing and his Knicks teammates were determined to make it back to the NBA Finals They did just that by finishing first in the conference with a 6022 record. They were followed by Clyde Drexler and the Portland Trail Blazers who finished second with a 5725 record. Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls finished third with a 5527 record. In fourth place were Shaquille O’Neal and Anfernee Hardaway of the Orlando Magic who finished their inaugural season with a record of 4141.

Midwest Division
The 1992 NBA season was the 46th regular season of the National Basketball Association The Regular Season began with the expansion of the league to 28 teams with the Charlotte Hornets and Miami Heat joining, bringing the number of teams in the league up to 28. The regular season ended on April 19, 1993, with Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan both earning MVP honors.
The Midwest Division featured some major changes, as five of its six teams changed divisions. The biggest change came as a result of the Charlotte Hornets joining the division; as a result, all five teams from the previous year’s Central Division moved to the Midwest. The other change saw the Indiana Pacers move from the Atlantic Division to the Midwest.

All four teams made their playoff debuts in their new arenas that season. The regular season ended with the Chicago Bulls winning their second consecutive NBA Championship defeating the Phoenix Suns 4 games to 2 in the NBA Finals

Southwest Division
The Southwest Division of the National Basketball Association (NBA) was created prior to the start of the 200405 season, when the league expanded from 30 to 32 teams with the addition of the Charlotte Bobcats The Southwest Division currently consists of five teams, all of which are located in the southern United States
The division was formed at a time when the league was undergoing a major realignment, which resulted in the relocation or expansion of several teams. As part of this realignment, the former Central Division was dissolved and its teams were reassigned to either the Eastern or Western Conference As a result, all five teams in the Southwest Division are members of the Western Conference
The 199293 NBA season was the first in which all five teams in the Southwest Division were members of the same conference. Prior to that season, four of the five teams (the Houston Rockets Dallas Mavericks San Antonio Spurs, and New Orleans Pelicans) were members of the Western Conference while the fifth team (the Memphis Grizzlies) was a member of the Eastern Conference
The Southwest Division is currently home to two former NBA champions the Houston Rockets (199394 and 199495) and the San Antonio Spurs (199899, 200203, 200405, 200607, 201314). The division is also home to two-time MVP Lebron James who played for the Miami Heat from 2010 to 2014.

The 1992 NBA Finals was the championship round of the 199192 NBA season The Eastern Conference champion Chicago Bulls defeated the Western Conference champion Portland Trail Blazers 4 games to 2. Michael Jordan was named NBA Finals MVP for the second straight year. He averaged 35.8 points, 4.8 assists, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.3 steals per game for the series.
NBA Draft
The 1992 NBA draft was the last in which High School players were not allowed to enter the draft. The first NBA Draft of the new millennium, it was held on June 24, 2000 at Madison Square Garden
The Draft Lottery took place on May 17, 2000. The Orlando Magic won their second lottery, giving them the rights to select first in the 2000 NBA Draft This was the fifth time that the Magic had a chance to pick first overall, and they selected Power Forward Kenyon Martin out of high school with the first pick in the draft.
The second pick of the draft was acquired by the Vancouver Grizzlies from a trade with Atlanta that saw Steve Smith go to Atlanta and Buffalo’s second pick go to Vancouver. Michael Jordan returned to his former team, the Washington Wizards (then known as the Bullets), for his final season and was selected by them with the third pick in this year’s draft. Although many expected him to be taken by Los Angeles with their lottery selection (the Lakers finished with a league-worst 1567 record). Jordan retired from basketball for a second time following this season.

In February 1993, following concerns raised by several NBA teams over player salaries and length of service required before Free agency eligibility, representatives from all 27 then-current NBA franchises met to discuss solutions. As a result of those meetings,, implemented what would commonly become known as The Collective Bargaining Agreement or “CBA”. The new agreement ended several months later when both sides affirmatively opted out of its terms on June 28,. Prior to that date,, teams were not allowed to exceed certain salary levels for their individual players (“the Salary Cap”), could only sign players to maximumlength contracts (usually five or six years), could only offer annual increases in Player Salaries of specified percentages above previous year’s amounts (“Bird” salary rights ultimately vested after three seasons provided continuous team service), became restricted as to how much cash they could pay directlyto newly acquired players (“traded player exceptions”), had limited abilityto retain players who had achieved free agent status with other teams (“First Refusal”, or “Matching” rights on offersheet contracts), etc.. In addition,, once a player completed his rookie scale contract,, he could not be traded by his initialn signing team for up t o one year , unless he consentedto such transaction; if he did consent,, he could not subsequently be traded backto that team for at least six months.. Players were previouslyrestricted from becoming free agents until they completed four years oft eam service , although there existed various exceptions ( including,”Bird” status ) . These restrictionswere generally viewed as hampering player movementand stifling competitionamongst teams.. In addition,,,, due both to trades being declared void if rules were violatedas well as court challenges under anti – trust law s , it became alsoweakly policed following previous attemptsby league owners t o restrict trades involving Future Hall -of- Famers Wilt Chamberlain( between Philadelphia Warriors & San Francisco 76ers ), Bill Russell ( between Boston Celtics & Golden State Warriors )& Oscar Robertson ( between Cincinnati Royals & Milwaukee Bucks ).
