With the NBA regular season underway, we take a look at what happened to some of the greatest Depaul Blue Demons players after they left the court.

Rodney McCray was a forward who played for the Blue Demons from 1979 to 1983. He was drafted in the third round of the 1983 NBA draft by the Indiana Pacers He played in the NBA for 10 seasons, including stints with the Houston Rockets Sacramento Kings and New York Knicks He averaged 8.1 points and 4.7 rebounds per game in his NBA Career

Mark Aguirre was a forward who played for DePaul from 1978 to 1981. He was drafted first overall by the Dallas Mavericks in the 1981 NBA Draft He was a three-time All-Star and two-time All-NBA selection during his 12-year nba career. He averaged 20 points per game and won an NBA Championship with the Detroit Pistons in 1989.

Terry Cummings was a forward who played for DePaul from 1980 to 1982. He was drafted second overall by the San Diego Clippers in the 1982 NBA Draft He played 16 seasons in the NBA and was an All-Star selection in 1987 and 1993. He averaged 15 points and six rebounds per game during his NBA career

Depaul’s NBA players Where Are They Now?

Since the early days of the National Basketball Association DePaul University has been a veritable factory for sending players to the league. In fact, 78 Blue Demons have been drafted into the NBA since the league’s inception in 1946.

But what happens to these players once their NBA dreams are over? Let’s take a look at what some of the more notable DePaul alums are up to these days.

First, there’s Orlando Woolridge, who was taken 6th overall by the Chicago Bulls in the 1981 NBA draft After a successful 12-year career in which he averaged over 20 points per game Woolridge now serves as an Assistant Coach for his alma mater.

Then there’s Tyrone Corbin, who was taken 12th overall by the Sacramento Kings in the 1985 NBA draft After a 16-year career in which he played for six different teams, Corbin is now an assistant coach for the Utah Jazz

Finally, there’s Rod Strickland, who was taken 19th overall by the New York Knicks in the 1988 NBA Draft Strickland had a long and successful 18-year career in which he played for twelve different teams. He is now an assistant coach for the Memphis Grizzlies

Depaul’s NBA players Current Teams

Since Depaul’s last NCAA tournament appearance in 2008, the school has seen a number of its former players go on to successful careers in the NBA. Here is a list of where some of those players are now, as well as a brief update on their recent performance.

-Quinton Ross (Los Angeles Clippers): Ross is in his 11th season in the NBA and is currently averaging 5.9 points per game for the Clippers.
--Willie Green (Free Agent): Green last played for the Orlando Magic in 2012 and is currently a free agent
-TJ Warren (Phoenix Suns): In his rookie season, Warren is averaging 11.4 points per game for the Suns.
– Sammy Mejia (Free Agent): Mejia has not played in the NBA since 2010 but he did see brief stints with a number of teams during that time, including the Detroit Pistons and Charlotte Bobcats He is currently a free agent

Depaul’s NBA players Retired

As of 2020, there are no DePaul alumni currently playing in the NBA. In fact, the last time a DePaul player was in the NBA was during the 2005-2006 season, when Quinton Ross played for the Los Angeles Clippers So where are all of DePaul’s NBA players now?

The majority of DePaul’s NBA players are now retired. In total, eleven DePaul alumni have played in the NBA, and of those eleven, nine have now retired. Ross is the only player from that 2005-2006 team still playing professionally; he currently plays in Turkey.

The other two players from that team, Sammy Mejia and Darrel Mitchell, both attempted to make comebacks to the NBA but were unsuccessful. Mejia last played professionally in 2010 while Mitchell’s last game was in 2011.

As for the other seven retirees, they have all found success post-NBA. Tyrone Corbin is an assistant coach for the Minnesota Timberwolves while Oliver Miller is a coach for a High School girls’ basketball team Terry Cummings is still involved with basketball as well; he is currently a studio analyst for Marquette Golden Eagles men’s basketball games on FS1. Mark Aguirre is working as a business consultant while Byron Larkin is an analyst on UC Bearcats radio broadcasts. Craig Hodges works as a spiritual counselor and Motivational Speaker and Joey Meyer runs his own youth Basketball Camp

Depaul’s NBA players Overseas

Since the 1990s, Depaul has seen a number of its players go on to find success in the NBA. In recent years however, many of the school’s former stars have taken their talents overseas, where they continue to thrive. Here’s a look at what some of Depaul’s most notable NBA players are doing now:

Adam Clayton: After a brief stint with the Chicago Bulls Clayton spent several years playing in Europe before eventually settling in Israel, where he now plays for Maccabi Tel Aviv

Darren Douglas: After bouncing around the NBA for a few years, Douglas ultimately found his way to Turkey, where he has been playing professionally since 2009.

Brandon Cole: Cole had a cup of coffee with the Indiana Pacers in 2010 but was released shortly thereafter. He has since carved out a successful career in Turkey, playing for several different teams over the past decade.

These are just a few of the many Depaul alumni who have found success playing basketball overseas. With the school’s rich history of producing NBA talent, it’s likely that we’ll see even more former Blue Demons making waves on the international stage in the years to come.

Depaul’s NBA players In the G-League

As of the 2019-2020 Season there are no Depaul alumni in the NBA. However, multiple players from the school re Playing in the G-League, which is the NBA’s official minor league Here is a list of some of Depaul’s most Table Basketball alumni and where they are currently playing:

-Tom Kleinschmidt: Long Island Nets

All of these players will be eligible for NBA call-ups if they perform well in the G-League. So far, no Depaul alumnus has made it to the NBA.

Since the Depaul men’s Basketball Program began in 1905, there have been a total of 49 players who have gone on to play in the NBA. Of those 49 players, 8 have become head coaches in the NBA, 3 are assistant coaches 1 is a player development coach, and 1 is a broadcaster.

Depaul’s NBA Players Broadcasting

Since leaving Depaul, some of the school’s most famous basketball players have gone on to have careers in broadcasting. Here are some of the most notable examples:

--Charles Barkley Barkley is one of the most recognizable faces in sports broadcasting currently serving as an analyst on TNT’s “Inside The NBA ” He has won multiple Emmy Awards for his work on the show.

--Steve Kerr After a successful playing career that saw him win five NBA championships Kerr transitioned into broadcasting. He currently works as an analyst for Turner Sports’ coverage of the NBA.

--Reggie Miller Miller is best known for his work as an analyst on TNT’s “NBA on TNT” studio show. He has been with the network since 2011.

--Kenny Smith Like Miller, Smith is also an analyst on “NBA on TNT ” He has been with Turner Sports since 1998.

Depaul’s NBA players Front Office

Since the early 2000s, Depaul University has made a name for itself as one of the top producers of NBA talent. In that time, the school has seen a number of its players go on to have successful careers in the league, including All-Stars Zach LaVine and Luol Deng.

But what about the other players who didn’t make it to the All-Star level? What happened to them after their NBA dreams didn’t quite pan out?

In this article, we’ll take a look at some of Depaul’s more notable NBA players and what they’re doing now that their playing days are over.

One player who made a significant impact on the court but is now working behind the scenes is Bobby Simmons. After a successful college career at Depaul, Simmons was drafted in the second round of the 2001 NBA Draft by the Seattle SuperSonics He would go on to play six seasons in the league, including two with the Los Angeles Clippers before his career was cut short by injuries.

Now, Simmons is working as an assistant coach for his alma mater. He’s been on staff since 2016 and has helped Depaul to improve its recruiting efforts and become one of the top mid-major programs in the country.

Another player who had a solid NBA career but is now working in front office is Jay Williams A Chicago native, Williams played his college ball at Depaul before being drafted second overall by the Bulls in 2002. He would go on to play three seasons in Chicago before suffering a devastating motorcycle accident that ended his playing career.

Williams has since made a successful recovery and is now working as an analyst for ESPN. He’s also become involved in various business ventures, including launching his own line of sports apparel and footwear.
