The conference is headquartered in Saint Louis Missouri. It is currently made up of ten schools: Bradley University Drake University, Illinois State University Indiana State University Loyola University Chicago Mississippi State University, Missouri State University Northern Iowa Southern Illinois University Carbondale and Wichita State University.

The Missouri Valley Womens Basketball Conference is widely regarded as one of the best mid-major conferences in the country. In fact, it is not uncommon for multiple teams from the MVC to make the Caa Womens Basketball Tournament each year. The conference has produced two National Champions (Missouri State in 2001 and Northern Iowa in 2010) and multiple All-Americans.

It is a single-elimination tournament and seeding is based on regular season records. The winner of the tournament receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament

The Missouri Valley Conference is widely considered to be one of the strongest mid-major conferences in women’s basketball. In recent years the Valley has been home to some of the nation’s Top Players including Jackie Stiles (Missouri State), Lindsey Wilson (Drake), Mandi Carver (UNI), Jennifer Gillom (Wichita State) and Kente Ivy (Southern Illinois).

--Bradley Braves The Bradley Braves are located in Peoria, Illinois and play their home games at Renaissance Coliseum. The team is currently coached by Andrea Gorski.
--Drake Bulldogs The Drake Bulldogs are located in Des Moines Iowa and play their home games at Knapp Center. The team is currently coached by Jennie Baranczyk.
--Evansville Aces The Evansville Aces are located in Evansville, Indiana and play their home games at Ford Center. The team is currently coached by Matt Ruffing.
--Illinois State Redbirds: The Illinois State Redbirds are located in Normal, Illinois and play their home games at Horton Field House. The team is currently coached by Kristen Gillespie.
--Indiana State Sycamores: The Indiana State Sycamores are located in Terre Haute Indiana and play their Home Games at Hulman Center. The team is currently coached by Greg Knapp.
--Loyola Ramblers The Loyola Ramblers are located in Chicago, Illinois and play their home games at Joseph J. Gentile Arena. The team is currently coached by Kate Achterwaldt George Fox University from 2009 to 2011 where she was also an Assistant Coach for two seasons prior to that.. Before coming to DV talking about taking over the head coaching duties for George Fox University . In her first stint as a Head Coach was with Simmons College from 2007 to 2009 where her squad achieved a record of 26-26.. She inherits a Redbird squad that went 15-16 last season but returns five starters..”

ISU – “Kate Achterwaldt comes to ISU after spending the last 8 seasons as an assistant coach various levels.. She spent two seasons as an assistant coach for men’s basketball at Quincy University before working as an assistant women’s basketball coach first at Hofstra University from 2013-2015 and most recently Stony Brook University from 2015-2017.”

The Midwest’s Best Women’s Basketball

The Missouri Valley Conference is home to some of the best women’s Basketball teams in the Midwest. With strong programs at Drake, Wichita State and Missouri State the conference is always hotly contested.

This year, Drake is the team to beat. The Bulldogs have an impressive 27-2 record and are currently ranked 14th in the nation. They have won 13 consecutive games and show no signs of slowing down.

Wichita State has also been very strong this season, with a 21-6 record overall and a 12-4 record in conference play The Shockers are currently ranked 23rd in the nation and are a force to be reckoned with come tournament time.

Missouri State rounds out the top three with a 20-7 record and a 11-5 mark in conference play. The Bears have been particularly strong at home, going 14-1 at JQH Arena.
